This Singapore derby was closer than it might appear. The Mancs had begun quietly but their hopes of growing into the game were dealt a harsh blow when Tagliafico, only just back from a previous suspension, earned himself another one with a seriously ill-conceived tackle. They were never entirely out of it, though, thanks to the midfield partnership of Rabiot and Bilva continuing to scheme throughout – it just took them a little bit too long to finally finagle a way through.
