Keen to recover from their first setback last week, the Mancs started strongly and aggressively, their concerted pressure paying off as Di Maria and Mbappe notched first-half goals. The MiBs’ noisy cricket really got wicked on the Menace, who struggled to convert possession into chances – although the introduction of Werner soon changed that. The German notched one close-range header and stretched the defence with multiple opportunities afterwards, but the hosts’ pacy attack always threatened on the counter and Di Maria finished the job just before full-time.
