Rodgers’s side have been written off as title contenders in some quarters lately and they looked in a mood to change that here. After only eight minutes both Coutinho and Aubameyang had the ball past stand-in keeper Moon. But Cers know what it takes to mount a comeback after last week’s heroics and they nabbed one back through Coman against the run of play. Later, deep into the second half, they pounced once again with a header from creative genius Gomez. Reguilon thought he’d thrown it away for Halfman when he inexplicably fired a rebounded shot into his own net, but the hosts were unwilling to lose in such fashion and Coutinho extended his golden-boot lead to spare the worst of their blushes. What a game.
